Nova Scotia Community College’s (NSCC) Marconi Campus will have a new, contemporary home on Sydney’s waterfront. Premier Stephen McNeil announced the location today, Aug. 2, at a community event in Sydney. The campus will be relocated to the downtown Sydney waterfront on the Esplanade, approximately between Falmouth St. and Crescent St.

It was a chilly day yesterday on the site of the f It was a chilly day yesterday on the site of the future Northside Health Complex where representatives from the Cape Breton Island and Construction Trades Council, the Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation, the CBRM Health Care Redevelopment Project, and Nova Scotia Health’s Eastern Zone unveiled a generous donation from the Cape Breton Building Trades and their Unionized Contractors of $100,000! This donation will support brand new ultrasonic equipment and new geriatric beds. What a great day for healthcare! 🏥

ICYMI: Federal Government Investing In Apprentices ICYMI: Federal Government Investing In Apprenticeship Programs For Workers In Skilled Trades 🚧 The federal government investing more than $28 million into helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Atlantic Canada hire apprentices in Red Seal trades. The Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency’s Apprenticeship START Plus Project will provide financial support to SMEs in all four provinces towards hiring a minimum of 5,200 first-year apprentices in eligible Red Seal trades over the next two years. Further, the project includes a minimum of 1,190 first-year apprentices from “equity-deserving” groups, a release regarding the announcement stated. ICYMI: Cape Breton Regional Hospital Expanding Wit ICYMI: Cape Breton Regional Hospital Expanding With $500 Million And 400,000 Square Feet 🌟 The Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH), the island’s only major health care facility serving a population of just over 100,000, is undergoing its first major expansion since the hospital was built in Sydney in the early 1990s. Set at $500 million, the three-building, 400,000-square-foot project is slated to be completed over the next six years with the first building, the energy centre, due to open next year. The project is actually part of a comprehensive upgrade of health care facilities in the wider Sydney area, known as the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM), including new buildings in Glace Bay, New Waterford and North Sydney.
