Starting next week, work crews will begin excavating the road surface as part of Phase 1 of the $9-million downtown Sydney redevelopment project. The section of Charlotte Street between Dorchester and Pitt streets will be closed to vehicular traffic until October. However, businesses on the block will remain open and pedestrian access is available. DAVID JALA/CAPE BRETON POST
