Being able to stay home and work in a good job meant everything to Alexis Lynk.

The first female sheet metal apprentice to work in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Lynk decided to try the trade because it provides a stable career.

"I've always been into the trades. That's what I like to do," said the 32-year-old Sydney woman, who is a second-year apprentice.

"Roofing gave me an opportunity to stay home in Cape Breton, which was a driving factor and I'm able to excel (in) my career."

We we're excited to visit the construction workers who're building the New Waterford Community Hub! 🚧

Each tradesperson received a well-deserved lunch break from Subway that included a sub, chips, a cookie, and a drink. In addition, they received a Building Tomorrow insulated lunch bag, thoughtfully filled with practical items that can be utilized both on the job and at home after a hard day's work. Supported by Colbourne Auto, and joined by our friends at Build Nova Scotia, over 80 tradespeople at the New Waterford Community Hub construction site received this appreciation gift!

Each dedicated construction worker is contributing to a brighter future for our community, one project at a time. So once again, Thank You for Building Tomorrow! 🙌
