SYDNEY, N.S. — Motorists trying to find their way into the Cape Breton Regional Hospital will soon have another option when it comes to navigating entry into the sprawling health care complex.
There are presently two ways in and out of the “Regional,” as the Sydney facility is best known. The main entry, called Regional Hospital Boulevard, is accessed off George Street just north of the Exit 8 interchange of Highway 125. A secondary access road called Terry Way connects with Churchill Drive on the Membertou First Nation.
Soon, there will be a third option. The province and the Membertou Development Corp. have signed a memorandum of agreement that will see the latter contribute the land and design and construct the new access road with the former contributing up to $2.5 million for the project. The province will own the road and be responsible for its maintenance and snow clearing.
