SYDNEY, N.S. — Ask Starr Smith what she does and she’ll tell you she’s a tin knocker.

Turns out that’s the moniker often used when referring to sheet metal workers, especially those who deal with HVAC ductwork.

For the past three-and-a-half years, Smith has been learning the trade as an apprentice. Picking up the jargon is just part and parcel of the industry. She’s also arming herself with the skills and qualifications needed to work in the construction sector. Read more…
