Construction work is underway at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and you’re invited to join the Cape Breton Partnership for a community information session on Thursday, November 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Port of Sydney! 🚧

This is your chance to ask questions and hear from the organizations and representatives working on the major expansion of the Regional Hospital, including the new Cape Breton Cancer Centre.

ICYMI: Federal Government Investing In Apprentices

ICYMI: Federal Government Investing In Apprenticeship Programs For Workers In Skilled Trades 🚧

The federal government investing more than $28 million into helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Atlantic Canada hire apprentices in Red Seal trades.

The Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency’s Apprenticeship START Plus Project will provide financial support to SMEs in all four provinces towards hiring a minimum of 5,200 first-year apprentices in eligible Red Seal trades over the next two years.

Further, the project includes a minimum of 1,190 first-year apprentices from “equity-deserving” groups, a release regarding the announcement stated.

ICYMI: Cape Breton Regional Hospital Expanding With $500 Million And 400,000 Square Feet 🌟

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH), the island’s only major health care facility serving a population of just over 100,000, is undergoing its first major expansion since the hospital was built in Sydney in the early 1990s.

Set at $500 million, the three-building, 400,000-square-foot project is slated to be completed over the next six years with the first building, the energy centre, due to open next year.

The project is actually part of a comprehensive upgrade of health care facilities in the wider Sydney area, known as the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM), including new buildings in Glace Bay, New Waterford and North Sydney. All projects combined total about $1 billion. 👏

Participants learned what they can expect from the program while listening to real-life experience from the passionate people who work in the trade themselves. 👷‍♀️
