We also deliver workshops tailored to individual organizations. There is no fee. \nWorkshops will take place monthly\, either online or in person at ISANS (6960 Mumford Rd\, Suite 2120) as ISANS and provincial COVID regulations allow. DESCRIPTION:Recognizing that their membership is located throughout Nova Scotia and beyond\, the CANS Member Mixer program takes CANS from one end of the province to the other. CANS hosts casual sessions ensuring members have the opportunity to engage with each other face to face\, continue to maintain existing relationships\, and also make new business connections. This program was launched in 2018 and had excellent feedback from attendees. With this online workshop\, we look at common systemic barriers which impede organizations from onboarding and retain newcomer talent. \nThe Gateway workshop “Elements and Benefits of an Intercultural Workplace” is required before you participate in this session. He is in his 8th year as the coordinator of the Workplace Culture Program at ISANS. He worked for 8 years at the National Policing Improvement Agency in England as a diversity specialist; in development training\, the national policing train the trainer program\, immersive learning\, online learning\, and HR. He has a BA in Cultural Anthropology and an MA in Communication Studies\, both from the University of Maine\, and a Diploma in Lifelong Learning from London\, England. He Immigrated to Canada in 2011. \nJordan began working as the facilitator of the Workplace Culture program in January 2021. After receiving his degree in Sociology and History from Memorial University of Newfoundland\, he spent 5 years working with adult English language learners in South Korea\, Vietnam\, and China. During this time Jordan learned a lot about adult education principles as well as intercultural competencies. He is a proud member of the ISANS team and is currently completing his Masters of Education at MSVU in Halifax. \n\n\n\nThe Workplace Culture Program is a part of ISANS Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion (EDI) External Team. With this online workshop\, we look at common systemic barriers which impede organizations from onboarding and retain newcomer talent. \nThe Gateway workshop “Elements and Benefits of an Intercultural Workplace” is required before you participate in this session. He is in his 8th year as the coordinator of the Workplace Culture Program at ISANS. He worked for 8 years at the National Policing Improvement Agency in England as a diversity specialist; in development training\, the national policing train the trainer program\, immersive learning\, online learning\, and HR. He has a BA in Cultural Anthropology and an MA in Communication Studies\, both from the University of Maine\, and a Diploma in Lifelong Learning from London\, England. He Immigrated to Canada in 2011. \nJordan began working as the facilitator of the Workplace Culture program in January 2021. After receiving his degree in Sociology and History from Memorial University of Newfoundland\, he spent 5 years working with adult English language learners in South Korea\, Vietnam\, and China. During this time Jordan learned a lot about adult education principles as well as intercultural competencies. Together\, these projects will create jobs\, opportunities for workforce training for underrepresented groups\, and direct benefits to local businesses\, communities\, and the economy. \nThe first segment in this virtual information session series was held on February 10\, 2021\, and focused on providing a broad range of information on the opportunities for local businesses and suppliers\, including: \n\nAn overview of the upcoming infrastructure projects and their associated timelines;\nPresentations from project Construction Managers; • Overview of opportunities for small and medium business\, social enterprises\, and diverse suppliers;\nA preview of sessions that will focus specifically on opportunities to do business with government; and\nOpportunities for questions and answers.\n\nFuture sessions in this series will also include an Introduction to Selling to Government (February 17\, 2021) and Navigating the E-Bidding System for Suppliers (February 24\, 2021).
